It’s team of the week time as Steve Norman takes us through who were the best performers from the weekend (and Monday’s action). The players are ranked according to Squawka Performance Score. There’s no Manchester United or Arsenal this week but Liverpool form a key part of the team.
GK: Artur Boruc – Southampton (101.1)
The former Celtic goalie has come in for some criticism since signing for Southampton but in Monday night’s draw with Everton he kept a clean sheet, made a number of good saves and commanded his area excellently.
RB: Glen Johnson – Liverpool (67.41)
Glen Johnson is having a very good season which was typified in Liverpool’s thrashing of Norwich where he created three chances and picked up one assist. His distribution in general was very good with an 89% pass completion.
CB: Daniel Agger – Liverpool (79.86)
Won an impressive seven out of seven headers and played out from the back well with 91% of his passes finding a team mate.
CB: Gareth McCauley – West Brom (67.88)
West Brom’s form has dropped of late and a draw at home to relegation battlers Aston Villa isn’t the result they would have wanted. McCauley though set up one goal and won 75% of tackles.
LB: Ben Davies – Swansea City (102.99)
Davies has stepped into the boots of the injured Neil Taylor. He scored a fantastic goal in the win against Stoke as well as completing every tackle contested.
CM: Steven Gerrard – Liverpool (140.71)
Scored one in the 5-0 win over Norwich Gerrard also completed 93% of passes. His return to form has coincided with Liverpool inching their way up the table.
